What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is the ancient art of healing by working pressure points on the feet and hands that correspond to different organs, glands or structures of the body. It has been practiced for around five thousand years and its origins have been traced from inscriptions found in a physician's tomb in Egypt. It is then believed this form of healing spread from Egypt via the Roman Empire to India, China and North America.

How reflexology works?

The body has the ability to heal itself given the opportunity to do so. After illness or stress vital energy pathways in the body become blocked preventing the body from functioning normally. Reflexology helps unblock these pathways by ridding the body of toxins and improving circulation. This restores the body to its natural state and encourages healing.

The purpose of reflexology is to balance the body to allow homeostasis (which is our natural healthy body state) which in turn allows the body to heal & function as it should.

How can it help me?

Reflexology treatments can provide a wonderful way to relax and unwind from the stresses of our busy lifestyles. It has been known to help with a variety of conditions. There are many benefits to reflexology, these being:

  • Relieves extreme stress & brings relaxation  

  • Detoxifying therefore aiding improved circulation 

  • Reduces pain & restores a natural balance 

  • It is beneficial for many conditions.  

  • Increases energy levels

What can I expect at a treatment?

Reflexology is a very relaxing treatment, which will take place either in my therapy hut or at your home. You remain fully clothed (minus your shoes & socks) & I will massage your feet, lower legs & apply pressure to points of your feet which correspond to parts of the body, helping to improve circulation, reduce stress to promote relaxation and general well-being. The treatment lasts about an hour & on first visits I am required to take a fully confidential medical questionnaire, which will take slightly longer.
